USC’s research group in combustion contributes in a variety of ways to the solution of these technological problems, both by the development of improved models of combustion processes, experimental data, and the discovery of new phenomena. Introduction. Our research concentrates on the development of advanced turbulence and combustion models and associated numerical methods for high-performance computing. We conduct research and education within the areas of laser-based combustion diagnostics and chemical modeling of combustion phenomena. We are a separate division and are part of the Department of Physics at Lund University.

Research activities are in applied plasma science with applications to combustion, pollution control, and pulsed power; quantum electronics, semiconductor devices and physics, and biophysics. The Otto cycle is one of the fundamental cycles used in internal combustion engines. This model is also a sectional model showing the indicated engine's motion. It is also driven by a handle. A lamp in the ignition chamber replaces actual ignition, lighting each time ignition would occur. A 6 V power supply powers the lamp.
